Kerala has plenty to offer for all, and for history lovers, well, there are many wonderful museums and heritage sights to choose from, we’ll tell you some of the ones you can’t miss out on!

The Hill Palace Museum ,Tripunithura


The Hill Palace Museum is one of the most widely known museums of central Kerala. Located in Thripunithara, the Hill Palace is the first heritage museum in the state, noted for the royal collections of the erstwhile Maharaja of Kochi.. The Archaeological Museum in Thrissur is another majestic building that houses a vast history. The museum houses a gallery of murals from across the state, temple models, manuscripts on dried palm leaves, megaliths and the remnants of the erstwhile ruling dynasty of Cochin.

When talking about museums, one can never fail to mention the Ambalavayal Heritage Museum located in Wayanad. The Museum has one of the largest collections of the erstwhile era, dating back to the 2nd century A.D.

The Cochin Museum


Located a little away from the crowded urban centre of Cochin is the Museum of Kerala where a statue of Parasurama, Kerala greets visitors. Welcome to the Museum of Kerala History. You don’t want to travel all around the state to check up on its history? Then the Cliff Notes you get from this museum will fill you up. The museum showcases some of the greatest historic episodes of the state, right from the Neolithic era to the modern age, through life sized figures. Don’t miss out on the beautiful light and sound show that is organised regularly here.

Napier Museum


Moving on to Thiruvananthapuram, the Napier Museum located in the heart of the city is a nice place to drop by. Built in the 19th century, this museum houses a number of rare archaeological and historic artefacts that would definitely be a history lover’s Disney Land!
